The Good, The Bad & The Nerdy for Oct 5, 2018
Ahead of the Daredevil panel at New York Comic Con this weekend, Marvel and Netflix have unveiled the official, full-length trailer for the show’s upcoming third season. Do we spy a new villain?
It looks like Chris Evans is done playing Captain America. Evans tweeted: “Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.” In a previous interview the actor alluded to retiring the superhero saying, “You want to get off the train before they push you off.”
According to a new rumor published by MCU Cosmic, the full title for Avengers 4 is Avengers: Annihilation. As the report argues, the full title can be seen in the Russo brothers’ recent “look hard” photo — particularly, with two ladders in the photo seeming to symbol “As”. Read more at ComicBook.com.
Jon Favreau has revealed some details about his upcoming live-action Star Wars TV series, The Mandalorian. “After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the ‘Star Wars’ universe,” said Favreau in an Instagram post on Wednesday. “‘The Mandalorian’ is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”
Again? After canceling the reboot of Heathers in the wake of the Parkland shooting, Paramount Network has decided to air the series with key edits. Heathers will bow in a Halloween event in two-hour blocks from October 25 to 29. One storyline that got tweaked involved a student blowing a school up, as did another where a character plays an ultraviolent video game about school shootings.
Saturday Night Live mastermind Lorne Michaels is teaming with Meg Ryan for a scripted comedy in development at NBC, in which she would star. Called The Obsolescents, it takes place in a New Jersey suburb where peace and civility is disrupted by the shocking death of a longtime township council member. If Meg Ryan were to star, it would be her first TV series-regular role in decades. Her feature credits include “When Harry Met Sally”, “You’ve Got Mail”, “Sleepless in Seattle” and “The Women”, among several others.
