Slash and his band, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, have released a music video for “Driving Rain,” featuring ragdoll puppets of the band and others in a combination of live-action and animated adventure. The song is the first single from Slash’s new album, Living The Dream, which was released on Friday (September 21st).
Slash said about the clip, “The idea behind doing an animated video for ‘Driving Rain’ is mostly due to the dark subject matter of the song influencing directors to come up with very dramatic, dark and sullen regular live action treatments that weren’t any fun at all (no offense to those guys). So I wanted to create something that could be tongue-in-cheek and yet still be dark with live-action animation.”
Singer Myles Kennedy added, “Lyrically, it’s a story about somebody who works on the road — it could be a musician, and it could be a traveling salesman. What makes it interesting is this guy has an addict girlfriend or spouse who continues to relapse, and she ends up getting him to come home. She’s miserable and falls back into bad old habits, and that compels him to head back to her to save the day.”
Slash, Kennedy and the Conspirators just launched their North American headlining tour and will visit 20 major cities before ending on October 16th back in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Palladium.
