Disney is scaling back its production and release of Star Wars movies. Disney CEO Bob Iger admitted that he had made a mistake and that there had been “too much, too fast” when it came to Star Wars movies. He added, “You can expect some slowdown … we’re going to be a little bit more careful about volume and timing.” Iger didn’t mention the future of the two spinoffs believed to be currently in the works… a Boba Fett film and an Obi-Wan Kenobi film
Chloe Zhao has signed on to direct Marvel’s The Eternals, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The superhero team adventure was penned by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. The film follows the tale of near-immortal beings dubbed The Eternals versus the Deviants, a naughty offshoot of the race created by Celestials.
Amblin/Universals’ The House With a Clock in the Walls pulled in about $27 million this weekend, and A Simple Favor took second place with $10.4 million in its second weekend out. While haunted family title The House was a coup for Eli Roth, making it his best opening ever, overall it was a dismal weekend at the B.O. Fahrenheit 11/9, Life Itself and Assassination Nation had soft openings ($3.1 million, $2.1 million and $1.1 million, respectively). Paul Feig’s Favor, starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, has earned $32.56 total, with just a 35% drop from its debut. Warner Bros. and New Line’s The Nun, meanwhile, plummeted 44% this weekend, with a $10.2 million take for a total of $100 million total.

The third Kingsman movie is coming out fall of next year. 20th Century Fox announced the third Kingsman movie will hit theaters November 9, 2019… which is the date previously reserved for “Bond 25” which has been pushed to early 2020. Kingsman: The Secret Service came out in 2015 and was a box office hit making over $414 million worldwide while Kingsman: The Golden Circle came out last year and also took in over $400 million globally.

Alec Baldwin agreed to come back and portray President Donald Trump for the 44th season of Saturday Night Live. Baldwin previously said wasn’t going to keep portraying the president because he said it was “agony” to do so. SNL returns September 29th with Star Wars actor Adam Driver as the host and Kanye West as the musical guest.
Saturday Night Live has also recruited Ego Nwodim to the cast and has added four new writers: Alan Linic, Alison Gates, Eli Mandel and Bowen Yang.
