Rock duo Tenacious D will release their first new album since 2012’s Rize of the Fenix on November 2nd.
The project, Post-Apocalypto, will feature Dave Grohl on drums and will be accompanied by an animated series. Loudwire.com reports that the new album was produced by John Spiker and will be available to fans digitally, on CD and on translucent green vinyl.
The six episode Post-Apocalypto animated series will kick off on September 28th with a new episode to follow every Friday. Jack Black drew all of the characters and they’re voiced by Black and Kyle Gass.
A press release described the animated series as , “Tenacious D thrust into a world of complete and utter destruction following the drop of an atomic bomb . . . Surviving the attack in classic cinematic fashion (a good old imperishable 1950’s refrigerator), the duo quickly learns that new forms of evil have spawned from the blast. One thing becomes apparent . . . for humanity to prevail, Tenacious D must save the world.”
The animated series will feature music from the new album.
In addition, Tenacious D is slated to hit the road in support of the new project. The tour kicks off on October 6th in San Bernardino, California and wraps on December 31st in Las Vegas.
