The Good, The Bad & The Nerdy for August 14, 2018
This fan-made mash-up of the Amazing Spider-Man movies and the upcoming Venom film is exactly what us superhero nerds have been begging for. Since Sony doesn’t seem to be making this happen any time, we can only enjoy the tease above. #sigh
Avengers: Infinity War already included practically every major Marvel Cinematic Universe character, but early drafts of the script also made room for at least one more less-than-major character — Howard the Duck. Co-director Anthony Russo confirmed Howard’s early inclusion in the film during an interview with Fandom: “Howard the Duck was in one draft of the script,” Russo said. “Howard the Duck actually had a really good scene … we were going to cameo with [The Hangover and Community star] Ken Jeong, with Howard the Duck. That was a much-beloved scene by us but it just didn’t end up fitting at all.” Co-director Joe Russo offered a description of the scene: “Yeah, it was [Peter] Quill trying to track down some information from Howard the Duck on some outlier planet and interrupting him during a poker game.”
The upcoming spin-off from The Conjuring franchise, The Nun, claims to be the darkest chapter in the shared universe thus far, which an all-new TV spot tries to prove. Get a taste of the horrors in store for audiences in the TV spot above before seeing the film in theaters on September 7th.
A nude scene starring Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable from 1961’s The Misfits was thought to be lost to the mists of time, but as it turns out, a producer named Frank Taylor kept some footage locked up. The scene was found by Charles Casillo, author of the upcoming Marilyn Monroe: The Private Life of a Public Icon. The son of the producer, Curtice Taylor, told Casillo that his father saved the footage because he believed it was groundbreaking. TBD what if the footage will see the light of day.
Kiernan Shipka and Netflix have shared the first images of herself as Sabrina Spellman in the streamer’s coming-of-age Chilling Adventures of Sabrina series. The show is an expansion of the Riverdale universe on The CW. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina releases its first 10-episode season Oct. 26 on Netflix. It has already been picked up for a second season.
