Homeland is indeed ending with its upcoming eighth season. Showtime Networks CEO David Nevins confirmed that the Emmy-winning drama is ending adding that co-creator and showrunner Alex Gansa will bring the show to its proper conclusion. Gansa first said that the eighth season would be his last, then star Claire Danes said a few months later that it would also be her last season. The eighth and final season of Homeland is expect to air on Showtime in early 2019.
Johnny Depp‘s Notorious B.I.G. murder thriller City of Lies has been pulled from the schedule a month before it was set to hit theaters. The movie, formerly known as “LAbyrinth”, was slated to open Sept. 7 in North America by Global Road Entertainment. No new date has been set for the film which tells the story of the police investigation into the deaths of rappers Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls. Depp’s being sued by a crew member from City of Lies who alleges that Depp punched him. The crew member says was fired after he refused to promise not to sue.
Between Justin Theroux donning a creepy doctor’s visage, Emma Stone slinging arrows and Jonah Hill sporting a mullet, Maniac looks nuts. The Netflix rom-com series hails from Patrick Somerville and is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. “It’s not therapy, it’s science,” Theroux’s Dr. James K. Mantleray says in the trailer. Maniac, which follows Hill and Stone during a mysterious drug trial, drops September 21st
Lifeguard drama Baywatch may be steaming up a small screen near you soon. FremantleMedia has remastered the show that brought David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson worldwide fame, and have begun shopping the HD version to broadcasters while simultaneously considering a reboot.
Oscar-winner Robert Redford is retiring from acting. The 81-year-old Redford will end his iconic 56-year film career with final movie, The Old Man & The Gun. Redford said after filming the move, “I thought, ‘Well, that’s enough’. And why not go out with something that’s very upbeat and positive?” He added he will focus on directing now that he’s done acting. He was one of the biggest box office draws in America in the 1970s. His 1973 film “The Sting” won seven Academy Awards including Best Picture, while Redford scored his sole acting nomination.
