Marvel’s upcoming Black Widow movie has found it’s director: Cate Shortland. The Australian filmmaker perhaps best known for the Nazi drama Lore, has signed on to helm Black Widow, Marvel’s action-adventure project that will star Scarlett Johansson. The move caps off a search that lasted over half a year as the studio met with over 70 directors in order to find its ideal candidate. A female filmmaker was the priority even as the search stalled at one point and the studio looked at male helmers.
Warren Littlefield, the exec producer of Hulu’s Handmaid’s Tale, tells The Hollywood Reporter that Season 3 will be a game-changer. Says Littlefield: “I think we’ll get to go to another place for year three, which is the resistance, the fight. June has had to battle for survival, and I think it leaves us in a place where she’s able to look beyond herself, beyond the battle for her unborn child in year two, and for Hannah. It feels like it takes us to a bigger place.” In Season 2, Elisabeth Moss’ June entrusts her baby with fellow handmaid Emily (Alexis Bledel) and stays behind to search for her oldest daughter, Hannah (Jordana Blake).
A Rick And Morty soundtrack will be released on September 28th. The double album will feature compositions by the show’s composer, fan favorites like “Get Schwifty” and new songs. The soundtrack will feature 26 songs and will be available on digital, vinyl, CD and cassette forms.

The nominations for the 70th Primetime Emmys are in. Game of Thrones topped yesterday’s Emmy nominations with 22 bids but the show is facing The Handmaid’s Tale, which got 20 bids/ HBO’s Westworld earned 21. Streaming service Netflix captured the most nominations overall, 112, taking away a title that HBO held since 2001. Donald Glover’s Atlanta was the top comedy nominee with 16 bids. The Emmys ceremony airs Sept. 17 on NBC with Colin Jost and Michael Che of Saturday Night Live as hosts.
