The Good, The Bad & The Nerdy for June 27, 2018
Oooh, new Predator trailer. But why is it so much shorter than the last trailer?!?
As previously reported here on GBN, CBS is developing a new Star Trek animated series as part of their attempts to expand the Star Trek television franchise under the supervision of Star Trek: Discovery co-creator Alex Kurtzman. Now a new report backs up that initial rumor and goes on to imply that Patrick Stewart may lend his voice to the series. In a report that suggested Stewart already has a verbal agreement with CBS to return to Star Trek to lead a new live-action series, a source in Los Angeles told the Mirror that “There are animated series also in the works, and Patrick could easily lend his voice to them.” ALL THE CAPTAIN PICARD!
Netflix made a deal with Mark Wahlberg, Peter Berg and the estate of Robert B. Parker, bringing back the Spenser character from a series of Parker’s mystery novels and the Spenser: For Hire TV show from the ‘80s. That show starred Robert Urich in the ‘80s. The movies revolve around a Boston-born boxer that becomes a cop, who eventually becomes a private detective.
Less than one month after Roseanne Barr was canned from ABC’s hit show Roseanne after making racist remarks, the remaining cast is back at work getting ready to film the pilot episode for the spinoff, The Conners. However, sources say Sarah Gilbert and John Goodman are at war with various members of production team over the script for the upcoming series. A source close to production said.“The new script seems to be all over the place, and they fear that the audience will drop off after the first few episodes because it is just not as funny without Roseanne.”
Late night TV hosts Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon and Conan O’Brien united for a taped segment that opened both Colbert’s The Late Show and Fallon’s The Tonight Show. Conan, O’Brien’s late-night TBS show, didn’t feature an original episode Tuesday. The three teamed up after the president doled out critiques of CBS’ Colbert (“lowlife”), NBC’s Fallon (“lost soul”) and ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel (“terrible”) during a speech to supporters in South Carolina. His insults came after a recent interview in which Fallon said he regretted his much-criticized decision to muss up Trump’s hair during a 2016 show.
Fuller House just taped an episode in Season 4 for Netflix where the girls meet a pair of ex-spouses. That couple is played by Lee Majors and Lindsay Wagner, who once both starred in their own series four decades ago, The Six Million Dollar Man (1973-78) and The Bionic Woman (1976-78).
Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, of Good Burger and Kenan & Kel fame, reunited to film a one-hour episode of Double Dare on Nickelodeon that will air later this summer.
