The Good, The Bad & The Nerdy for April 12, 2018
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star Dwayne Johnson announced on Instagram yesterday that the reboot of 1995’s Jumanji will have a sequel. With the news that the Jumanji reboot is now Sony Picture’s highest grossing movie ever in the U.S., The Rock thanked fans on Instagram and let the news slip that the team is already working on a sequel.
Vin Diesel has apparently begun preparations for his next comic book adaptation — Valiant’s Bloodshot. The actor has long been rumored to be attached to the property, but even after it became conventional wisdom that he would headline the first-ever theatrical release featuring a Valiant character, the actor has remained quiet…until this week. Diesel shared an image on Instagram featuring Bosslogic’s fan art of him in the Bloodshot role, along with the cryptic caption, “And so it begins….”
Ever since a poster for Avengers: Infinity War confirmed actor Peter Dinklage’s involvement in the upcoming Marvel Studios blockbuster, fans have been speculating as to what role the Game of Thrones alum could play in the film. However, while we’re still no closer to that answer, directors Joe and Anthony Russo are adamant that fans will at least recognize Dinklage from the moment they see (or hear) him on-screen. “Uh, you will, yeah,” Joe said to JOE.ie when asked if we would be able to identity Dinklage in Infinity War. “It may take you a beat or two, but you’ll certainly recognize him.” Laughing, Anthony then added, “That’s all we can say.”
Avengers: Infinity War is selling twice as many tickets on Fandango as Black Panther (and more than the last seven Marvel Cinematic Universe titles combined)! With about two weeks to go before the movie’s bow, it looks like Infinity War is on track to presell more tickets than any other superhero title in history, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie opens April 27th.
Jake Gyllenhaal won’t be the next Batman. Back in November, movie pundit John Campea started the rumor that Gyllenhaal was Matt Reeves’ top pick to take over the role of the Caped Crusader from Ben Affleck in The Batman. The actor was asked point blank by China News Asia if he is going to be the next Batman. He responded, “Wow, that’s a very difficult question. The answer to that question is no.”

Captain America star Chris Evans shared a sweet video of the first time he met his rescue dog, Dodger. “This is the moment we met,” Evans wrote. “He was trying so hard to stay seated even though he desperately wanted to get out. I knew right away that he was coming home with me, so I took this video to always remember our first hello. Rescue dogs are the best dogs!!” Evans shared the video in part to commemorate National Pet Day.
