The Good, The Bad & The Nerdy for January 10, 2018
According to a new report from The Wrap, Vin Diesel is in talks to star in Sony’s Bloodshot movie, based on the Valiant Comics of the same name. While Groot can be pretty mean at times (He dismembered a guy’s toe!) his level of violence is nothing compared to Bloodshot’s, pictured above.
Despite the in-progress Disney buyout, Fox’s X-Men film franchise continues to develop a slate of solo movies for some of its characters. It’s being reported that Kitty Pryde — best known by her superhero name of Shadowcat — will get a solo movie of her own as well. According to Collider, Kitty’s solo film will be developed by Tim Miller, director of 2016’s Deadpool. At this time, no other information about the film, such as a potential writer or additional producers or whether Ellen Page would return to the role, has been revealed.
Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep appeared on Ellen Tuesday to discuss their work on The Post, which opens Friday. The pair discussed many things, including a potential Oprah Winfrey presidency, but things got really interesting when host Ellen DeGeneres challenged them to trade roles and take on a character the other played in the past. Streep reenacted a scene from Forrest Gump, while Hanks took on Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada.
Rerun rights for the Netflix hit animated comedy series BoJack Horseman are being shopped to cable buyers. It’s an unusual example of a streaming service original going into syndication. BoJack premiered in 2014 before Netflix was focused on locking down global rights, a feature that characterizes many of their deals today.
Mark Hamill and Ron Perlman are warming up their pipes to voice characters in the upcoming Power of the Primes miniseries. This will be the final act of Machinima’s and Hasbro’s Transformers: Prime Wars Trilogy. Hamill previously voiced a guest role in the Transformers: Rescue Bots series in 2014. Power of the Primes is set to launch in the second quarter of this year.
