The Good, The Bad & The Nerdy for December 28, 2017
The first look at Solo: A Star Wars Story has been revealed in the form of the photo above. The image sees the film’s stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, and Chewbacca as they will appear in the film. Ehrenreich takes on the role of Han Solo and Glover becomes Lando Calrissian.
“Solo is an exciting story about intergalactic adventures, telling the adventures of young Han Solo, about how he got into difficult situations and found an outlet from them, as he became the same a smuggler, a rebel, a bully, a hero, whom we all know and love.”
The (Teen) Titans are coming to an as-of-yet unnamed streaming service, and we’re starting to get a better look at some of the young superheroes in the new DC Comics-based series. Actor Brenton Thwaites posted a photo to where he’s in his Robin costume:
Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt are in talks to reunite for a Mad About You reboot on NBC, according to TVLine. The hit sitcom aired from 1992 to 1999 and followed a filmmaker and PR specialist in NYC. The show ended in a flash-forward that showed their daughter Mabel working on an autobiographical pic about their family. If it goes forward, Mad About You would join a number of other 90s reboots, including The X-Files, Full House, Will & Grace and Roseanne.
Speaking of reboots, ABC’s revival of Roseanne has a new promo featuring Dan Conner (John Goodman), who has apparently returned from the dead. Fans of the original series will recall that Dan died in the sitcom’s last episode. In the promo, Roseanne (Roseanne Barr) tells him: “You can’t live in the past, Dan! When things are gone, they’re gone forever!” Roseanne premieres March 27 on ABC.
The final takings for the 2017 North American box office take will decline by about 2.5% from last year’s record-setting $11.38 billion, even as Star Wars: The Last Jedi adds more than $400 million. As of Christmas Day, the total domestic haul for the year was $10.68 billion, 2.7% behind last year. 2017 is expected to have the lowest overall box office numbers in at least 3 years.
