The Good, The Bad & The Nerdy for November 20, 2017
It’s been 13 years since Pixar’s The Incredibles came out. Thought Disney was done with the franchise? Nope! A sequel is set for June 14, 2018 and above is our very first look at the upcoming revisit to our favorite super-powered family.
Star Wars fans are salivating today at the news of the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi being the longest SW movie to date, clocking in at a cozy 2 and a half hours. Tickets can be preordered now for The Last Jedi’s December 15 release.
It’s being reported that Tom Selleck has turned down a role on the Magnum P.I. reboot. The Star is quoted “They wanted Tom to portray Magnum’s aging mentor, but he doesn’t want to play some old guy.” Maybe Hollywood shouldn’t revisit another old property at all, making everyone happy. After only a month at the box office, Thor: Ragnarok has crossed $700 million worldwide! ‘Ragnarok’ earned another $24.1 million from international markets over this weekend, bringing its international box office total up to $490.7 million. Combining that total with the film’s $247.4 million domestic total brings its global total up to $738.1 million.
Speaking of the box office, DC Comics’ Justice League, as expected, won the weekend with $96 million.. far, far short if expectations. While $96 would be huge for, well, any other movie, it’s being considered a bomb by box office experts. On a $300 million budget, JL’s disappointing debut was the lowest for any DC (Extended Universe) movie so far.
#2 this weekend went to the debuting Wonder, with $27 million, while the aforementioned Thor: Ragnarok held steady at the #3 spot.
