AAA’s projections say just over 50.9 million Americans are traveling this week. Overall the prediction sees an 3.3% increase from last year. 50.9
Americans will travel 50 or more miles away from home for the holiday. That’s partly due to the fact that consumers will pay the cheapest airfares for the week since 2013. But not all prices are going down. Drivers will pay the highest gas prices since 2014 for their travels and rental car prices are at a five-year holiday high of $70 a day.
Despite those rising fuel and rental cost, 89.3% (45.5 million) of Americans are still planning a road trip for the holiday weekend.
So if you’re heading out, no matter how you’re heading out, give yourself a little extra time and prepare for some traffic.
