THE GOOD, THE BAD & NERDY FOR OCTOBER 26, 2017
Longtime fan-favorite DC Comics character Deathstroke is getting his own big-budget movie. Warner Bros made the announcement this week that actor Joe Manganiello – who had already been hired to play the assassin in the DC Extended Universe – will star while Gareth Evans (The Raid) is expected to direct. No time table has been announced for the film’s release.
Bad news for anyone holding out hope for a Shaun of the Dead sequel, star Simon Pegg told Entertainment Weekly recently that he and director Edgar Wright joked about a sequel, but if (or when) they work together again, it will be a new property, and not something related to ‘Shaun’, Hot Fuzz, or The World’s End.
“I jokingly wrote a treatment for From Dusk Till Shaun, which was a sequel to Shaun of the Dead.” Pegg explained. “It was all about Shaun and Ed (Nick Frost) having to go up to Edinburgh, or something. I don’t know. It was ridiculous. And it was a joke. It wasn’t like a serious pitch. Edgar thought it would be funny to do the film again, but with vampires. But it was all just pub talk.”
Will Smith has a new big-budget fantasy movie on the way this holiday, but you won’t need to run to the theater to check it out because it’s a Netflix production. Bright is an urban fantasy story that stars Smith as a human cop and Joel Edgerton as his new orc partner. Bright will be released on Netflix beginning December 22.
