Guns N’ Roses kicked off their latest leg of the ‘Not In This Lifetime Tour’ over the weekend in Ireland and paid tribute to the late Chris Cornell with a rendition of Soundgarden‘s smash hit, ‘Black Hole Sun‘.
Cornell was laid to rest in Los Angeles on Friday following a private ceremony with family and friends, including many musicians. Cornell’s death was ruled a suicide by hanging following Soundgarden’s performance at the Fox Theatre in Detroit on May 17.
Toxicology reports are expected to take several weeks and will reveal what/if any additional drugs were in the singer’s body at the time of his death. According to Cornell’s wife, Chris mentioned that he had taken an extra Ativan or two before hanging up, worrying her enough to contact hotel security to check on him.
