The world lost a legendary artist and an influential voice of a generation of music lovers, with the passing of Chris Cornell on Thursday.
Soundgarden were scheduled to headline the opening night of Rock On The Range in Columbus, Ohio on Friday night, and fellow rockers Stone Sour paid tribute to the fallen rock star by performing one of the group’s monster hits, Outshined at a Thursday night kickoff party.
Cornell’s death was officially ruled a suicide by the medical examiner, where Cornell’s body was found in his hotel bathroom following a show at the Fox Theatre in Detroit Wednesday night. Toxicology reports are expected to take several weeks to get back, which will determine if any alcohol or drugs were inside Cornell at the time of his death.
The lead singer leaves behind his wife Vanessa and 3 children.
