New Video, Corgan on Wrestling & Sandy Hits the Hall of Fame

The WQLZ Music Minute--Music news written by Bishop for 92.7 WQLZ, The Rock Station

New video

Having their front man in rehab isn’t slowing Green Day down one bit, when it comes to releasing new music videos. The band has canceled all their shows for the rest of the year, but they also bumped up the release the last album in their trilogy from early next year to sometime in December. Now they’ve released the music video for “Forgotten.” The video uses a bunch of video effects and incorporates in-studio footage plus shots of the band live on stage. The song is a bit more on the soft side with piano leading the charge. “Forgotten” will be on the new soundtrack for the latest tweener vampire movie The Twighlight Saga: Part 2, which comes out November 13th, the same day Green Day will release iDos!. The movie, if you care, comes out November 16th.  Watch the video below or at this link.

Corgan on wrestling

Wrestling fans, Billy Corgan is with you! The Smashing Pumpkins front man has long been a supporter of traditional pro-wrestling. He even has his on wrestling company. He says it’s like being a baseball manager. He assesses each wrestler and then comes up with story lines. Of course, this just reinforces to everyone else who doesn’t watch wrestling that it’s all scripted and way too over hyped. But Corgan says that doesn’t make it fake. He says it’s like an opera that uses swords or a movie that uses stunt people and special effects.

Sandy hits the Hall of Fame

Hurricane Sandy put a hurtin’ on the Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame. The Cleveland tourist trap suffered from severe winds that ripped some of the siding off the building. Thankfully, there was not flooding inside the building. All damage was superficial, according to a spokesperson.

Canceled concerts and bumped up release date

Green Day has bumped up the release of their third album in the trilogy as a way to make up to fans the cancellation of more shows. The band has called off all concerts for the rest of the year and will postpone their tour that was planned to kick off next year. Mike Dirnt, Green Day’s bassist, says that the well-being of Billie Joe Armstrong is top of mind. Armstrong is doing alright in his efforts to kick substance abuse to the curb, but it apparently is still a struggle as the band calls off a slew of dates. The third album from the trilogy, iTre! will be out December 11th. It was originally supposed to be out sometime in February of next year. iDos!, the second album in the trilogy, is still due out on it’s original release date, November 13th.

New Bizkit Video, Megadeth Heading to Studio, and Bullet For My Valentine Releases Release Date

The WQLZ Music Minute--Music news written by Bishop for 92.7 WQLZ, The Rock Station

New Bizkit Video

A new video from Limp Bizkit for the tune “Lightz” was leaked on YouTube, but has since been yanked. A description of the video says the song is set to be released on the new album Stampede of the Disco Elephants witch will be released via Lil Wayne’s record label Cash Money. Thankfully the video has been mirrored on other accounts (watch the video below, or at this link). Front man Fred Durst said on Twitter that the tune is not the band’s new single, and that the video was leaked prematurely. Speaking of Twitter, recently the band made amends with each other after DJ Lethal’s public criticism of Durst. Speaking of Durst, he’s reportedly in talks with a major network to release a situation comedy called Douchebag, which is based on a rock star trying to balance his fame with raising a family (watch a trailer here). There’s no indication when that series will air. Surely, it will coincide with the release of the new album sometime early next year.

Megadeth Heading to Studio

Megadeth will be heading to the studio later this week to begin recording a new album. In an updated posted to the band’s website, Dave Mustane explains a recent successful surgery that was meant to remove a polyp from his vocal chords. He then shared that the band is gearing up for their 20th anniversary tour and that they’ll be headed into the studio to record their 14th album.

Bullet For My Valentine Releases Release Date

Bullet For My Valentine have announced the release date for their new album Temper, Temper. Expect to pick that up February 11th. The title track and first single will be released on all digital platforms November 25th.

Rose on Kimmel and Cobain on Broadway

The WQLZ Music Minute--Music news written by Bishop for 92.7 WQLZ, The Rock Station

Rose on Kimmel

Rose and Kimmel
Rose and Kimmel

One critic of Axl Rose’s appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Show Wednesday says that they stayed up for something entertaining, but all they got was “promotion for a show and his evident affinity for a chili burger.” Slash’s wife, Perla Hudson, says that the interview was a flub. “Sex, drugs and chili dogs” was the essentially all it was, according to Hudson. During the interview, Kimmel joked several times about Axl’s promptness, poking fun at the regular tardiness Rose is known for. Rose talked about his early years in LA, a Halloween tree and Guns ‘N Roses’ 12-day residency at the Hard Rock in Los Vegas which starts October 31st. Rose’s interview on Kimmel was the founding Gun ‘N Roses member’s first live TV interview in more than 20 years.  Watch that interview here.

Cobain on Broadway?

We heard last week about Courtney Love working on a new single she expects to go number one in the UK, but now it’s being revealed that Love has another project she’s working on. Reports indicate that the Hole front woman and former wife of late Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain is working on a Broadway musical that will highlight hers and Cobain’s life. The news came out during testimony at a trial where one of the collaborators, former Brittany Spears manager Sam Lufti, is suing Spears for breach of contract. He said on the stand that he’s working with Love on a motion picture or Broadway show about the life of Kurt Cobain. Courtney … haven’t you done enough damage already?

The Next Zombie Movie, New 3 Doors Down & Heading to the Studio

The WQLZ Music Minute--Music news written by Bishop for 92.7 WQLZ, The Rock Station

Is this a 'shop?
Is this a 'shop?

The next Zombie movie

We know what Rob Zombies next movie is gonna be, and it’s a bit of a surprise, but that’s what the Horror rocker/director wants to do … keep you on your toes. He understands that some people may not have a stomach for his latest creation The Lords of Salem. He’s even been told by some people that they didn’t like it the first time seeing it, yet it deserved another viewing. Zombie says that the current film industry wants to water everything down so people aren’t confused, but he wants the audience to think. That’s why his next movie isn’t about some group of psycho killers, Michael Myers or witches seeking revenge. Nope! Zombie’s next movie is going to be about hockey. That’s right, hockey. He says the next film will be based on the true story of the Philadelphia Flyers winning the Stanley Cup in the ‘70s.

New 3 Doors Down

There’s a new song from 3 Doors Down that you can download now. The single “One Light” is available at the band’s website 3DoorsDown.com. It’s part of the band’s forthcoming greatest-hits collection. There’ll be two other new songs to be released with the collection November 19th.

Heading to the studio

They released the album The Great Escape Artist last year and now they’re headed back to the studio to put together some new stuff, but not until the current tour is wrapped up. Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell says that it won’t be a full album, or only a single, but it will be a new body of work—whatever that means. Expect that sometime in the Spring or Summer of 2013.

The WQLZ Music Minute--Music news written by Bishop for 92.7 WQLZ, The Rock Station

DVD/Blu-Ray cover for "Quebec Magnetic"
DVD/Blu-Ray cover for Quebec Magnetic

New record label

We’re all eagerly anticipating the release of Metallica’s live concert video Quebec Magnetic, and the news now says that the band will release the video on their newly created record label. What’s the label’s name? Well, the band posted to their website that they haven’t quite finished dotting all the i’s and crossing all the t’s, so they can’t reveal all the detail quite yet, but they did confirm that the live video DVD/Blu-Ray release will be the label’s first official release. Expect to pick up the disc December 10th, just in time to pick it up for that Metallica fan this Christmas.

Another teaser

Soundgarden has given us another taste of the forthcoming album King Animal with a clip of the tune “Bones Of Birds.” The minute-and-a-half video features a clip of the song with front man Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron talking about how the tune is about children losing their innocence. King Animal hits stores November 13th.  Watch the video below or at this link.

Canceled shows

It wasn’t a band member getting arrested for holding up a pharmacy this time. It’s the singer’s swollen throat. That’s the reason given for Coheed and Cambria calling of shows through the end of November. A statement from the band says that singer Claudio Sanchez saw a doctor in St. Louis Monday who said he could have long-term damage if he doesn’t rest. The band plans to reschedule all the postponed dates.

Out Today, She's Bowing Out, and Being Profiled?

The WQLZ Music Minute--Music news written by Bishop for 92.7 WQLZ, The Rock Station

Out today

It’s New Music Tuesday, which means you should hit up your favorite record store to pick up new stuff from The Sword and Ill Nino—both have albums that drop today! Plus, the much anticipated House of Gold & Bones Pt. 1 from Stone Sour is in stores today. If you need to preview the latest from Stone Sour, the first of a two disc concept album is available streaming online. The second part is expected out early next year with a comic book coinciding with the concept out in April of next year.

Lacey Sturm

She's bowing out

Speaking of new albums, next week Flyleaf will release their album New Horizons--but there’s a bit of a shakeup with the band. The new album will be the last album from Flyleaf with their singer Lacey Sturm. She recently gave birth to her son Jack and she is reeling from the death of the band’s sound engineer Rich Caldwell who died in a tragic car accident. Sturm says she now fully understands the title of their last record Memento Mori, which means “remember your mortality. Flyleaf will continue to perform with new singer Kristen May of the band Vedera.

Being profiled?

Blink 182’s Travis Barker is starting to feel a bit like a Juggalo and is having some problems with the police. He claims LAPD thinks he’s in a gang. He’s not in a gang, he’s in a band, but the tattoos all over his body could be confusing to law enforcement. The drummer says he’s now been pulled over twice and had his car searched for drugs and weapons. Both stops produced no contraband.

Inspired by Lincoln, and It's Been How Long?

The WQLZ Music Minute--Music news written by Bishop for 92.7 WQLZ, The Rock Station

Inspired by Lincoln

The Great Emancipator--Abraham Lincoln
The Great Emancipator--Abraham Lincoln

So what inspired the forthcoming Stone Sour concept albums House of Gold and Bones? Would you be surprised if I told you it was Springfield’s main man Abraham Lincoln that lit that fire? Front man Corey Taylor says that he came up with the title of the concept album after reading a Lincoln biography titled Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln. In a Fuse TV interview, Taylor says the passage in the book that sparked his interest “was from a letter describing Lincoln's balance between melancholy and positivity. They described him as being made of gold and bones,” and Taylor really liked that, he thought it was a brilliant visual.

If you’re from the Springfield area, and you’re sick of hearing about Abraham Lincoln, you may want to rethink your stance, because rockers all over love the Great Emancipator! Even punk rock legend Henry Rollins was in town a few weeks ago. He toured the Lincoln Library and Museum for three-and-a-half hours (video link) before performing his spoken word. Maybe we can convince Corey Taylor to visit Springfield just to hit up the library and museum … he may as well bring Stone Sour with him to perform when he hits up the Land of Lincoln, right? House of Gold and Bones Part 1 comes drops in stores everywhere tomorrow.

It's been how long?

The band Projected
The band Projected

New super group

There’s a new super group of sorts out there and it’s a mix of Sevendust and Creed, of all bands. Called Projected, the band features guitarist John Connoly, and bassist Vince Hornsby of Sevendust and drummer Scott Phillips and guitarist Eric Friedman from Creed. The side project will be answering fan question via Twitter this afternoon. Wanna take part? Follow Porjected1 on Twitter and get your questions in. The live Twitter chat will take place at 3 this afternoon.

New "reality" show

Big hair rocker and reality TV star Bret Michaels has himself another show, and this time it’s all about recreational vehicles. The show, Rock My RV will follow Michaels and some experience RV designers who go around transforming run-of-the-mill RVs into what they’re calling “mansions of the road.” The Travel Channel show starts filming next month and will air sometime next year.

Neil's vodka

KISS has a bunch of different wines out, Sammy Haggar has his special brand of tequila. Now, it’s what every alcoholic has been waiting for—a vodka made by rock star with a DUI record. Vince Neil will soon release to the world his latest liquor creation named Tatuada. The vodka takes it’s moniker from Neil’s Mexican restaurant out of Las Vegas. He’s already got his own line of tequila out. The Motley Crue front man was charged with a DUI back in 2010 after failing a field sobriety test three times. He served 15 days in jail, and 15 days house arrest for the crime. Details about his new vodka will be out soon.

Interesting projects

He wants to tell us about his new interesting projects, but not yet … That’s what Nine Inch Nails front man Trent Reznor has said about work he’s doing with hip hop pioneer Dr. Dre. A message posted to Reznor’s Facebook page says that he’s been working for the past year with the crew from Beats by Dre and fans can expect some very interesting projects to emerge next year. Reznor and his wife Mariqueen also have a new album coming out next year under the How to Destroy Angels banner. A single from How to Destroy Angels has been released to stream online.

New album next year

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith says that the band is working on an album for 2013. Talking to ABC Radio, Smith says the Chili Peppers have shows scheduled up until April of next year. After that, they’ll take a break and then head to the studio to work on their 11th studio album. He also said he’s happy to sell fans mp3 downloads of their recent concerts. Bassist Flea, meanwhile, turns 50 this week and told CNN that he will work on the forthcoming album, but he doesn’t expect to be with the band forever. Flea has been working with Radiohead’s Thom Yorke on a project to be released under the guise of Atoms for Peace sometime next year. The bassist also has a solo disc out titled Helen Burns.

Previewing new song

A two-minute video featuring an interview with Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron of Soundgarden also contains clips of the new track titled “By Crooked Steps.” King Animal, the first album from the band in more than 15 years is out November 13th.

A Hole Single, First Time in Indonesia & AC/DC Fandom

The WQLZ Music Minute--Music news written by Bishop for 92.7 WQLZ, The Rock Station

Courtney Love at some gala ...
Courtney Love at some gala ...

A Hole single

Believe it or not, but we could hear some new music from Hole front woman Courtney Love. The new single “This Is War” will be produced by former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha—if all goes as Love plans. Love tells Rolling Stone magazine that it’s a “sick, slamming, great” song and that she knows it’ll go No. 1 in the UK but “in the United States, who f**king knows?” She goes on to say that it’s a really fast rock song and that she hopes to have it out early February 2013.

First time in Indonesia

Indonesia will be graced with the cockiness of Axl Rose for the first time as Guns ‘N Roses plans to perform. The historic performance in one of the world’s most populated cities of Jakarta, Indonesia, will be December 15th. In another landmark G’NR event, Axl will do his first live TV interview next week during the Jimmy Kimmel Show. The October 24th conversation will be the first time Axl has done a live TV interview in 20 years.

AC/DC fandom

It’s called Beyond Thunder and it’s what every AC/DC fan has dreamed of—a documentary about not just the band but the intense fandom around the world and their connection to each other. The film makers quit their day job to make the documentary. A nearly five minute clip of the film has been posted online (watch that below). The producers are waiting to hook up with AC/DC management for a potential worldwide commercial release. We’ll keep you posted.

Tweet and make up, Jerks to Reporters & Going Gangbusters

The WQLZ Music Minute--Music news written by Bishop for 92.7 WQLZ, The Rock Station

DJ Lethal is all better now ... until the next outburst
DJ Lethal is all better now ... until the next outburst

Tweet and make up

Months after some choice words were posted to Twitter by Limp Bizkit’s DJ Lethal about front man Fred Durst, the band seems to have kissed and made up. Back in the Spring, Lethal posted a message to Twitter that Fred Durst didn’t enjoy “partying and having a good time.” This sparked fans to lash out against the band. Guitarist Wes Borland, showing even more dysfunction in the band, came out with a tweet shortly thereafter saying fans don’t have all the info and should stay out of it. Well, now, nearly seven months later, everyone’s feelings seem to be all healed up and Lethal is on the apologetic side. Lethal sent out a series of tweets talking about how he may have taken it too far with his partying and he’s now in a much better place and writing music with the band. It’s funny how time heals all wounds. The band is in the studio working on their first new album with the label Cash Money Records.

Jerks to reporters

If you’ve got 40 minutes to kill and you wanna see Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page and Robert Plant be a couple of “D’s” to reporters, then you can watch a press conference of the band talking about the New York Museum of Modern Art screening of the band’s five year old live video of “Celebration Day.” Page and Plant stared down or gave silly answers to reporters asking if there’d be another reunion with new music. The answer was emphatically no.

Going gangbusters

Jane’s Addiction Guitarist Dave Navarro will gust star on an upcoming episode of Sons of Anarchy. Reports indicate he’ll be a gang member in the last two ‘sodes of the season. The band will also have a song ready for the season finale.

Metallica is stepping up to stand in for the ailing Green Day during the October 27th appearance at the Voodoo Music and Arts Experience in New Orleans. Angry solo album

Former Pantera front man Phil Anselmo is talking about his forthcoming solo attempt. Anselmo says that it’s an angry, angry album. Walk Through Exits Only is due out early next year. When asked why he is doing a solo album, he said he loves “extreme music, underground music, whether it be grindcore, death metal, thrash, black metal” or whatever … he finds a lot of beauty in that kind of raw music and he is doing the new album out of pure need for himself.

Home invader arrested

She had no idea who the dude was—that’s the response from Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of long-time deceased Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love. The story is that Frances Bean was away from the house and had a house sitter taking care of things. When the house sitter came into the house Saturday, she came upon a 20-something who said he had permission from Frances Bean to be in the house. The house sitter didn’t believe it and called police. According to reports, the dude was using Frances Bean’s washer and dryer and eating her food. He was eventually arrested.

Anniversary release

Rage Against the Machine will be releasing their epic debut self-titled album … and there will be bonus tracks plus a bunch of other goodies! All versions of the re-release are expected out November 17th!

Agree to disagree

Rage has always been political, but what about Kid Rock. Sure, we hear all the time about Kid Rock tunes being used at political rallies, but what about Rock asking fans to speak up about his politics. The Detroit native recently introduced the GOP Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan during a rally in Detroit Monday. Rock says that he’s ready to lose some fans, but he doesn’t care. He stands for something and he knows his fans may stand on the other side. He says it’s OK to disagree.

Dr. Feel Good

Tuesday he made good on that promise by setting up a hospitality and music room for children and their families. During a Saturday morning interview with WQLZ’s Bodine, Nonpoint front man Elias Soriano says that the band hit the reset button: a new record, new label, new members, and releasing a self-titled album only made sense. “We felt like with the addition of a couple new members, and the new label, it felt like a fresh start … so we thought how much more exciting can you get than releasing a self-titled record.” During Saturday’s interview, Elias and new guitarist Rasheed Thomas performed acoustic two new tunes from the album. You can watch the interview and their performance of “Left For Your” and “I Said It” to the right, or you can follow this link.

Static-X cancel performances

Medical problems are the reason Static-X is canceling the rest of their appearance on the Noise Revolution Tour. The band released a statement this weekend following their last show in Flint Michigan Saturday saying that front man Wayne Static has to head back to L.A. for some medical procedures. Noise Revolution supporting acts Ill Nino and Emmure will continue the tour without Static-X. Some remaining dates that Static-X were pulled from included Sunday’s show in Portage, Illinois.

Nonpoint In Studio--Performance and Interview

Before heading to the Boondocks for Saturday's concert, Nonpoint stopped in studio to hang out with Bodine and talk about a variety of things.  Below you can watch their acoustic performance of the two new songs "Left For You" and "I Said It" from their forthcoming self-titled album due out Tuesday.

The band didn't only perform two new songs from their album during their stop in studio with Bodine, they also hung out and aired some dirty laundry, talked about the new record, new band lineup and about some of the home cooked foods they miss while they're on the road.  Watch that interview with Nonpoint below or at this link.

Your Choice, Green Day Sneakers, and Horror Book Video

The WQLZ Music Minute--Music news written by Bishop for 92.7 WQLZ, The Rock Station

Your choice

There’s not a lot to choose from for the groups up for nomination in the Rock Hall of Fame, but I figured I’d let you know—The Rock Hall is offering up a chance for the public to sound off on who should be the next round of inductees. ON the list of nominees are Rush, Deep Purple, Joan Jett and Donna Summer. Also on the list are old-school hip hop groups N.W.A. and Public Enemy. Hell, I just wanna see Flava Flav get up on stage and act a fool—that’s worth seeing! You can vote for your top five nominees online at RockHall.com from now until December 3rd. So talk it over with your family and go vote!

Green Green Day Converse Sneakers

Green Day sneakers

It’s called cross promotion—something Billy Joe Armstrong can do in his sleep, apparently. Green Day hooked up with Converse to offer up some exclusive Green Day sneakers. If you get the sneakers, you get a never before released version of the tune “Oh Love.” You know, I was real worried that Green Day would kinda go the way side after ¡Uno! came out, but with November 13th being the due date for the next album ¡Dos!, I’m sure the band has a few more tricks up their sleeves—even if Billy Joe is in Rehab.

Horror book video

Oh, and a few months ago, we told you about the coffee table book Metallica’s Kirk Hammet is put out. The book is all about his collection of horror memorabilia. Video has surfaced online from Wired Magazine of some of his possessions. Watch it here or embedded below. The book Too Much Horror Business is out now.

Freese quits APC, Corgan Sued, and Cornell Sued

The WQLZ Music Minute--Music news written by Bishop for 92.7 WQLZ, The Rock Station

Josh Freese is, admittedly, a drumming whore! and he's good at it!
Josh Freese is, admittedly, a drumming whore! and he's good at it!

Freese quits APC

One of my personal favorite session drummers has quit one of my favorite bands. Josh Freese sent out a tweet yesterday announcing that he has decided to sever ties with A Perfect Circle. Freese, who has been with the band since their inception 13 years ago, didn’t explain his departure but he did apologize to fans who are anxiously awaiting A Perfect Circles’ one scheduled show December 29th at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Freese has slapped skins for a ton of bands different bands in studio and on stage, including Weezer, Ween, Guns and Roses, Nine Inch Nails and lately he’s been rocking alongside Sublime with Rome.

Corgan sued

Smashing Pumpkins front man Billy Corgan is getting sued by his neighbor, Grey’s Anantomy star Eric Dane. Apparently one of Corgan’s trees fell into Dane’s home. The tree fell during a storm in LA last year and even knocked down a power line. Dane’s wife was 9 months pregnant at the time. What does this have to do with music … not much.

Cornell sued

Neither does this story, really, except that it involves another musician getting sued. This time, it’s Soundgarden front man Chris Cornell. He’s being sued by his former maid for what she claims is underpayment. That’s funny … a legendary grunge band member had a maid. There’s definitely some irony, not ironing, in there. The maid says she was never paid overtime and was never given her required by law uninterrupted breaks.

Foo Fighters Taking a Break, Mellon Collie Goes Diamond, & Metal Madness

The WQLZ Music Minute--Music news written by Bishop for 92.7 WQLZ, The Rock Station

Foo Fighters taking a break

What you talking about, Dave?
What you talking about, Dave?

They put out a hugely successful record which was accompanied by an amazing documentary and acclaimed tour. Hell, the band even gave select fans in certain cities their own garage performances. Now Dave Grohl says that he’s not sure when the Foo Fighters are going to play again. They’re not breaking up, but a hiatus is in order. Grohl says that’s how the band keeps it together—they all have to go away for a while. Not sure what other members are up to, but Grohl says that he’s gonna finish up his Sound City documentary about the studio where he and a bunch of other bands have recorded some epic albums.

Mellon Collie goes diamond

Mellon Collie and teh Infinite Sadness
Mellon Collie and teh Infinite Sadness

It’s been out for damn near two decades—hell, when did “Zero” and “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” hit the radio? 1995!?! Wow! Well, the epic double-disc Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness from Smashing Pumpkins has been certified Diamond from the Recording Industry Association of America. What that means is that the eclectic album has sold 10 million copies. If you’re looking to boost those numbers even higher, you may want to wait until the remastered version is released December 3rd. Smashing Pumpkins will be at the Chiavetz Arena in St. Louis October 18th.

Metal madness

Wanna know how to give metal a bad rap? If you’re in a band and representing live metal at a Six Flags for the first time—Throw three mic stands into the audience. That’ll win you over some fans! That’s what happened at Six Flags in New Jersey over the weekend. The singer from the band Falling in Reverse was arrested after the incident and is charged with simple assault. That was the first and last metal show at Six Flags.  Watch video of the incident below or at this link.

Headed to the studio soon

It may be a while, but Metallica is hinting that they’re gonna hit up the studio. Guitarist Kirk Hammet told RollingStone.com that the band will be headed to the studio “soon” for an album that’s expected out sometime 2014. He says they’re still occupied dealing with the forthcoming 3D movie, but once that project is complete, Hammet says they’ll hunker down and put together more legendary riffs.

New videos out now

On the video front, there are a couple of new releases you should know about. Firstly, Marilyn Manson has released the video for “Hey Cruel World.” The video is your typical black-and-white film with close ups using a distorted lens. It appears the video was shot in front of an audience. Manson will be in St. Louis with Rob Zombie October 5th.  Meanwhile Nonpoint has released the video for their new tune “Left For You.” The video shows the band rehearsing in an empty theater. Their new self titled album drops next week and the band will be in Springfield with Taproot this Saturday at Boondocks.

Streaming online

Speaking of new albums—Papa Roach’s new album is streaming on AOL. You can now listen online to all thirteen tracks of the album The Connection which is due out in stores today. If you like it, go pick it up!

Axl live

Finally, after 20 years, Axl Rose plans a live TV interview! That train wreck is expected on the Jimmy Kimmel Show October 24th. I’m putting that in my calendar now.

Free Metallica Download, Video Shoot, and Soundgarden Responds

Free Metaillica download

It’s a pretty kick ass way to honor a rock star that died over a quarter-a-century ago—Metallica has offered up free downloads for one of their 1984 concerts featuring original bassist Cliff Burton. The entire concert is available to download for free at LiveMetallica.com. The one hour show was recorded in France November 22, 1984. Burton died after the band’s tour bus overturned on a rural road in Sweden September

27, 1986.

Video shoot

Photos of Orgy’s film shoot for their new video have surfaced online. The band’s latest single “Grime of the Century” is available via iTunes. The video for the tune was directed by adult-film director Matt Zane. Orgy is planning a five-to-seven week tour beginning in November to promote the single and the new album. There’s still not an official word when a new album will be out.

Soundgarden responds

A couple weeks ago, you may remember Smashing Pumpkins front man Billy Corgan coming out saying that Soundgarden was reuniting, touring and putting out their first album in 16 years because they wanted one more go at the trough. Well, Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron finally responded saying he “thinks Billy is a super-smart guy” and he can “understand why people would question bands that reunite … so, I’ll just leave it at that.” That’s it? That’s all you’re gonna say. Really? Well that’s just no fun. I was hoping for a Corgan/Cameron cage match.
