  All Day Children's Holiday Store   The 24th Children's Holiday Store is the biggest funraiser for the Mini O'Beirne Crisis Nursery. At the store children shop with the help of a volunteer while parents wait in the lobby. Gifts range from $1 to $10 so there is plenty of variety. Once they have found the "perfect" gift, children, bag and tag each gift with their volunteer before leaving the store. Open Saturday, Nov. 30 through Dec. 23. Location: Town & Country Shopping Center (between Chuck E Cheese and Tuesday Morning in the former Designer Chic store). The Children's Holiday Store Hours: Monday–Friday ….....4-8 p.m. Saturdays ……………10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Sundays ………...…..noon-5 p.m.
 
  All Day COAT DRIVE   During the months of December and January, the Rochester Public Library will be holding their annual Coat Drive. Accepted articles for the collection will be new or gently used coats, both children and adults), hats, scarves, and gloves.   8:30AM 5:00PM Figurism: Narrative and Fantastic Figurative Art   Figurism: Narrative and Fantastic Figurative Art brings together historical and contemporary body-based art by over fifty artists from the Illinois State Museum collection. The exhibition emphasizes the power and the range of the narrative and expressive uses of the figure in Midwest art. The artworks were selected to create a better understanding and consideration of different representational styles and the ability of the figure to carry feeling, memory, and experience. They were also selected with an eye toward something fantastic—a heightened sense of the super-real or super-natural—whether through aggressive, expressive form, high-keyed color, inventive graphics, or ambiguous situations. The Museum is open from 8:30-5:00 Monday through Saturday and from 12:00-5:00 on Sunday. Admission is free. Parking is available nearby and the building is ADA accessible.   6:00PM 9:00PM Chatham "Light Up the Park" Holiday Display   Fridays and Saturdays 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. beginning the weekend of November 29 and 30 through December 20 and 21 at Chatham Community Park on South Main Street. The drive-through display will feature a sparkling winter forest, holiday-themed light displays, 20 lit arches, 100 lit candy canes, a giant Christmas Tree and a holiday polar express train to name a few. Donations are welcome with proceeds benefiting community parks and playground facilities. The event is sponsored by the Chatham Jaycees. For more information call 217-483-4553.
 
  8:30AM 5:00PM Food Drive   Share your good fortune this holiday season by contributing to a food drive sponsored by The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) and the Illinois State Museum (ISM) to benefit the Central Illinois Foodbank. Through Dec. 31 drop off goods at the ISM lobby Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Closed Christmas Day. Help People in Need & Donate to the Central Illinois Foodbank. When you come in out of the cold to rediscover the Illinois State Museum this holiday season, be sure to bring a little something extra to add to a very important wooden box in the first floor main lobby. The IDNR and ISM are collecting nonperishable food items to be donated to the Central Illinois Foodbank to help people and families in need. Santa will be in his house Dec. 9-21. The hours will be 5-8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 12-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. He will be available for pictures, free with your camera, or $5 each with ours.   8:30AM 5:00PM Holiday Decorations   In keeping with the simpler decorations of the times, the Lincoln neighborhood is decorated with wreaths and greenery. Decorations will remain up through Jan. 2, 2014. The Lincoln Home is open for guided tours every day except Christmas Day (Dec. 25) and New Year's Day (Jan. 1). Free tickets for the tours may be picked up at the Visitor Center, 426 South Seventh Street. The Visitor Center is open from 8:30-5:00, with the last tour going in to the Lincoln Home at 4:30. Tickets are not needed to walk around the neighborhood.
