Come see the splendor and awe of 2,013 hand-carved, illuminated pumpkins glowing around the Rees Memorial Carillon and the Botanical Garden. Gather up the whole family and come walk the grounds, view the jack-o-lanterns, dine with our food/candy vendors, enjoy a nice bonfire and listen to spooky music.   8:00AM 12:30PM Farmers Market   Live, work, play, and be healthy! Downtown Springfield, Inc. (DSI) invites the public to attend opening day ribbon cutting and festivities for the Old Capitol Farmers’ Market, presented by St. John’s Hospital, Wednesday, May 15 at 10 a.m.; with live music by the Frank Trompeter Quartet, Celebrity Chef Demonstration by Ashley Meyer of Real Cuisine Restaurant & Catering, and free cake (while it lasts) made by Incredibly Delicious. The Market will be held 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturday’s May 15 – October 26 and is located on Adams Street between Fifth and Second streets. With nearly three full blocks of vendors there is an outstanding variety of produce, baked goods, meats, cheese, plants and many other specialty items. The Market accepts LINK, Debit, and Credit Card transactions for the purchase of Market Tokens ($1.00 each). The Market Token Station will be located at Development Services Group, 401 E. Adams (NE corner of Fourth and Adams) and available 8 a.m. to noon each Market day. Vendors will also continue to accept cash, checks, WIC and Senior Coupons. DSI again received grant funding from LINK UP Illinois to provide Double Value tokens for Link cardholders; LINK UP Illinois is a program of Experimental Station, in partnership with Wholesome Wave and the Illinois Farmers Market Association. LINK customers may receive a maximum of $10 of Double Value tokens per market day until grant funds are expended.

  9:00AM 6:00PM The Great Pumpkin Patch   The Great Pumpkin Patch is proud to invite guests to see over 300 varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds from over 30 countries around the world; all grown here on our farm. Numerous premier displays, over 5,000 hardy mums, various mazes and gardens grace the grounds. There's a diversity, of plants and animals- with several goats, pigs, exotic chickens, rabbits, a llama and an alpaca. There are several places to eat and drink on the farm and lots of entertainment on the weekends. Named Illinois Agritourism Business of the Year in 2009, The Great Pumpkin Patch is much more than an ordinary pumpkin patch. It is a safe, family-fun atmosphere where learning can take place. Located in the heart of Amish country, 2 miles south and 1/2 mile west of Arthur, they are open from Sept. 15 through Oct. 31 every day, seven days a week, from 9 am to 6 pm. Admission is charged.

In conjunction with the central Illinois community, our goal is to make the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk a premier annual event. We are actively seeking partner organizations and companies that can serve as event sponsors and provide in-kind donations for a silent auction. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer will feature a 5K walk beginning at the Commodities Pavilion at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.   5:30PM n/a 2nd Annual Bull Bash   Four Rocks Arena in Delavan, IL will host two action packed performances of professional bull riding and competition on Friday, October 18th, and Saturday, October 19th beginning at 7:30 pm nightly. (Doors open at 5:30 pm for pre-event activities). More than 30 professional bull riders will be competing nightly. This is your chance to see many of the same professional riders featured on television cable stations CBR (Championship Bull Riding) and GAC (Great American Country) Extreme Bulls Tour. Each performance will feature some of the top bull riders of the National Federation of Professional Bull riders (NFPB) pitted against award winning bucking bulls. These bull riders will be competing for a cash purse and championship points to qualify for the NFPB Finals. Cowboys will be testing their skills against some of the baddest bulls in the country, and each night the top scoring cowboys will be brought back for a final match against the top bulls of this event. There’ll be lots of excitement for all ages including free pony rides from 6:00 – 7:00, cowgirl barrel racing, horseshoe games, and plenty of grub. This is an action packed family event that’s reasonably priced! Admission is just $10 per person, and kids 6 and under are FREE. All admissions for those 18 and older will include a chance to win a 2013 Ford Pickup Truck from Roland Rich Ford. Four Rocks arena is located right off the Delavan Exit on Interstate 155. Proceeds will benefit the Delavan School Foundation.

The “Spooktacular Evening” is suitable for all ages and includes historical characters “haunting” the exhibit journeys, special eerie lighting and music, and spooky storytelling in Union Theater. There’s also a kids’ costume contest with prizes, a scavenger hunt, crafts and games, and a special showing of “Ghosts of the Library.” Refreshments will be provided, and the Museum’s Gift Shop will be open during the evening Parents should note that 8-9 p.m. will be enhanced for a slightly older audience.
