Piano played at the Lincoln's wedding on display |

The Lincolns' wedding was held in the Edwards' parlor on Nov. 4, 1842. The piano is on long-term loan from the Lincoln Home National Historic Site. Hours: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Girls on the Run Announces Community 5k Event |

Registration is open for the Girls on the Run 5k event. This non-competitive walk/run sponsored by Girls on the Run (GOTR) of Central Illinois is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19th, 2012, at Washington Park in Springfield, Illinois. Memorial Health System is the presenting sponsor for this event.
The event is open to the entire community. Family, friends and community supporters of all ages and abilities are encouraged to register to run or walk the course with the girls.
The event begins with a family-friendly festival that includes face and hair painting, fun activities, and photo opportunities. All entrants who register by May 4th are guaranteed a t-shirt. Medals will be distributed at the finish line to all finishers. Post-race activities will take place until noon on race day.
Online registration (www.gotrcentralillinois.org) is encouraged. Early online registration is $25 per person through May 4th. Late online registration is $30. Paper registration is $30 per person. Participants may register the day of the event for $35, cash or check only. Proceeds benefit GOTR of Central Illinois. GOTR participants, coaches and running buddies do not need to register.

First Steps: Moms Support Group |

This group gives moms and their babies the opportunity to meet in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Moms can bring a brown bag lunch and join in lively informative conversations conducted by Birth Center nurses.
The group meets on the fourth floor of the Carol Jo Vecchie Women and Children’s Center at St. John’s Hospital every Wednesday from 12 noon - 1:30 p.m. There is no charge for this service and no registration required. Phone: 744-2229. |
