One of “Bicentennial Farm Families” Chosen as Twilight Parade Grand Marshals

One of the only two “Bicentennial farm families” identified in Illinois has been chosen to serve as grand marshals of this year’s Illinois State Fair Twilight Parade.

Those are families who have farmed the same land through multiple generations over the state’s entire 200-year history.

The Wiseman family of Wabash County still tends the same farm begun by an ancestor in 1818. The family was chosen to lead the parade in Springfield to mark the opening of the State Fair.
