Ryan Reynolds is set to star in the first-ever live-action Pokemon film titled Detective Pikachu. Reynolds is joining Justice Smith and “Big Little Lies” actress Kathryn Newton in the movie, which is based on the popular gaming franchise. The story involves the father of Smith’s teenage character being kidnapped, forcing him to team up with Pikachu in order to find him. Newton will portray a journalist.

CBS All Access is greenlighting Jordan Peele’s reboot of The Twilight Zone. “Too many times this year it’s felt we were living in a twilight zone, and I can’t think of a better moment to reintroduce it to modern audiences,” Peele said in a statement announcing the series. Peele, Simon Kinberg and Marco Ramirez will executive produce and collaborate on the first episode.

Netflix has dropped its first trailer and announced that return date for Black Mirror’s fourth season: December 29th. Jodie Foster will direct one of the six episodes and Rosemarie Dewitt, Jesse Plemons and Aldis Hodge are set to guest star. Watch the trailer above.

In with the new for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Mikael Blomkvist will be played by Swedish star Sverrir Gudnason (instead of Daniel Craig) in Sony’s sequel to 2011’s Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, due out in 2018. The Girl in the Spider’s Web will adapt Stieg Larsson’s best-selling book of the same name. Claire Foy will also succeed Rooney Mara as the new Lisbeth Salander, and Sylvia Hoeks is set to play her twin sister.

Finally, tapping into the nostalgia of the ’90s is one of the biggest trends in pop culture currently, which is sure to continue with a feature film adaptation of the Nickelodeon series Are You Afraid of the Dark? The young adult horror series, which will be penned by IT scribe Gary Dauberman, has been confirmed to be released on October 11, 2019.
