Rauner Signs Legislation To Address Sexual Harassment Concerns At Capitol

Governor Bruce Rauner has signed legislation intended to address concerns about sexual harassment under the Capitol dome.

One bill will require sex harassment training for lawmakers, lobbyists and staffers. The other allows the newly-appointed Legislative Inspector General to go back and review complaints that have sat dormant for up to three years… previously, any complaint more than a year old would have been thrown out.

Rauner says the moves are a positive but small step and says lawmakers must do more to ensure the Legislative Inspector General’s office is independent and that its work is transparent.
