14-Year-Old In Custody Following Springfield School Bomb Threats

A 14-year-old District 186 student has been arrested in conjunction with Thursday’s bomb threats.

He was charged with four felony counts of disorderly conduct and transported to the Sangamon County Juvenile Detention Facility. All three high schools and Franklin Middle School were evacuated for several hours Thursday after those threats.

The all-clear was sounded by midday, but not before many parents had already come to take their kids home for the day. District 186 officials and Springfield police are increasingly frustrated by the disruptions.

They say such threats are not a joke or a prank and could lead to jail time and hefty fines.
