Illinois Hospital’s Urging Rauner to Borrow to Pay Down Backlog of Bills

An organization representing Illinois hospitals is urging Governor Bruce Rauner to move ahead with a massive borrowing plan that would allow the state to pay down the huge backlog of bills it owes medical providers.

The Illinois Health and Hospital Association says that borrowing will allow the state to stop paying interest penalties for late payment, and to leverage more federal matching funds.

On the WMAY News Feed, a spokesman said providers have been waiting for their money for months and need relief soon.
